Am I an old man now? .'.

Hehe - let me get to the point before you judge the title :)

I worked a shift down at the cafe the other day with a replacement from another store - at some point or another age came up and she turned out to be 17 - completely bursting the bubble I've created where everyone is basically my age :)

That was indeed strange - I haven't seen my sister for about four years, and she's about the same age as this girl who responded to the music smalltalk with a list of bands that I'd never heard of (it's okay though, music these days is so devoid of soul - but back in my day....)

Anyway - so at some point I asked her when her birthday was (tentative explorer of astrology that I am) and her response was "April, so yes, I'm 17 for quite a while still.." (followed by a mildly accusative glare)

umm.. what?

oohhhhh!

*smacks forehead*

Somehow, my asking about the birthday was interpreted as "so, when are you turning 18(legal)?"

So either:
a) She gets a lot of older people hitting on her and has [understandably] grown defensive
or
b) I'm old enough now that younger generations assume any friendliness is an attempt at starting a midlife crisis :)

either are amusing to me, but in different ways.

It's either we already have midlife crisis or we'll end up labelled as cradle snatchers. I already feel ancient at 28. :-(

childe: what do you mean "already wants you" ??

christy: yarp - maybe we don't "act our age" enough, so the childlike friendliness is taken the wrong way.. though I shouldn't speak for you :)

Strange, sometimes I'm even more "childlike" than those 17-18 year olds although at some point I feel fashionably ancient. No worries, though. Age is just a number. :-)

Hi Christy

I went through 28x2 a couple of years ago (you work it out) and I feel younger than a lot of the people I know in their 20s appear to feel.

On the other hand, I have met small kids (and a dog called Finn, and a couple of cats) who must have done a few more incarnations than me. Old souls, if you know what I mean.

To quote the Great Bob:

Have a little fun
Make a little money
Do a little good

Stay cheerful - amor et hilaritas!

now I DO sound my age - pontificating, but what's a Pope (Pontiff) to do?

Toby--

You surely don't act your age which is a good thing. Age is just a number. :-)

..yes, and it just so happens, for him, it's a big number :)

.. hmm.. that's not nearly as funny as it was in my head..

rams tongue further into cheek.. hehe, and that is funnier than it was in my head

Well, I knew you were funny in the head...

(now that just sounds darn cruel...) :-)
