You are certainly drawing interesting posts - threads I am only too happy to follow up.
However - I am still sharing my life with a woman who has few problems with work/respect/power/income - while I continue to be a white, English-speaking male who has few resources; desires little; has relinquished any tenuous claim to priority based on the above characteristics; and is still happy with most of it, except the idea that any of the pressures on ambitious women are somehow my fault....or particularly different from those on ambitious males.
(Oh to be a cat, among a flock of pigeons)
hmm.. playing with flocking algorithms really makes you wonder how far up the food chain "hive minds" go.
Do flocks of birds land near predators in order to cull themselves?

Thanks for that amazing link - you always have good links - I'll have to look at it when I get home (I can only get away with brief 'excursions' while I am at work).
And yes, I think culling is a symbiotic process - don't you ever feel the herd squeezing you to the outside edge of the group? Does the algorithm include 'try to stay in the middle of the group'?
